As an Aspiring Youth Justice Worker, you will support pupils across KS2, helping them build positive relationships, develop confidence and remain engaged in learning. You will work closely with the class teacher and wider pastoral team to provide consistent, patient and nurturing support.

This role is ideal for a graduate or aspiring professional who is interested in building a future career within Youth Justice, Youth Offending, Criminal Justice, Social Care, Pastoral Support or Behavioural Support
. The position will provide valuable experience supporting children who may face social, emotional, behavioural or educational challenges.

This role will begin in September 2026
, with the potential to become a permanent member of staff directly with the school. The working hours are 8:30am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday
.

Aspiring Youth Justice Worker – Role & Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils across KS2
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with children who may experience social, emotional or behavioural challenges
  • Support pupils to regulate their emotions, develop resilience and manage behaviour positively
  • Encourage pupils to remain engaged, focused and motivated during lessons
  • Promote positive behaviour, inclusion, confidence and self-esteem
  • Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support individual learning and behaviour plans
  • Adapt activities and support strategies to meet pupils’ individual needs
  • Help pupils develop communication, social and problem-solving skills
  • Act as a positive role model and encourage children to make positive choices
Aspiring Youth Justice Worker – Person Specification
  • A genuine interest in pursuing a career within Youth Justice, Youth Offending, Criminal Justice, Social Care, Psychology or Pastoral Support
  • A degree or educational background in Criminology, Psychology, Sociology, Youth Work, Social Work, Education, Childhood Studies or a related subject would be advantageous
  • Recent and relevant experience supporting children or young people within the last two years
  • Experience working with challenging behaviour, SEMH, SEND, vulnerable young people or within a youth-focused setting would be beneficial
  • A patient, empathetic and resilient approach
  • The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
  • Strong communication, relationship-building and active listening skills
  • A positive and proactive attitude with a genuine passion for supporting young people
  • The ability to work effectively under the guidance of the class teacher and as part of a wider team
