Are you a Sports Graduate with experience working directly with children and young people? Looking to gain valuable school-based experience in a rewarding and dynamic environment?

New Directions Education is recruiting enthusiastic and dedicated Sports Graduate Teaching Assistants to support secondary schools across North-East Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates considering a future career in teaching, PE, sports coaching, youth work, or educational support.

Using your sporting background, you’ll help motivate students, promote positive behaviour, and support learning both in and out of the classroom.

The Role

As a Sports Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support teachers in delivering engaging lessons across the curriculum.
  • Work with students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups to boost confidence and attainment.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, resilience, teamwork, and participation.
  • Support pupils with additional learning needs.
  • Assist with PE and other lessons, extracurricular activities, and school sports programmes.
  • Act as a positive role model and mentor for young people.
  • Help create an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
What We’re Looking For
  • A degree in Sports, Sports Science, Physical Education, Coaching, or a related subject
  • Previous experience working directly with children or young people is essential (this could include schools, sports coaching, clubs, youth groups, holiday camps, tutoring, mentoring, or similar settings)
  • A passion for supporting the development and wellbeing of young people
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A positive, energetic, and proactive approach
  • The ability to inspire, engage, and motivate students
  • An interest in pursuing a career in education, teaching, or youth development is desirable
