Sports Graduate – West Yorkshire

We're currently recruiting Sports Graduates to work across a range of welcoming secondary schools in West Yorkshire
, starting in September 2026. We have both long-term and flexible opportunities available, with many roles offering the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

This role is ideal for recent Sports Graduates looking to gain valuable school-based experience before progressing into teaching, educational psychology, counselling, youth work, coaching, sports education or another education-based career.

As a Sports Graduate, you'll work closely with pupils who require additional academic, behavioural, social, or emotional support. You'll use your sporting background and transferable skills to build positive relationships, encourage engagement, develop confidence, and help pupils overcome barriers to learning. You'll support learners on a 1:1 or small group basis, working alongside teachers and pastoral staff to ensure every pupil reaches their full potential.

Main Responsibilities Will Include:
  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis, using sport and physical activity to encourage engagement and positive behaviour

  • Delivering targeted activities and interventions that support pupils’ physical, social, emotional and personal development

  • Supporting pupils who require additional academic, emotional or behavioural support to engage with learning

  • Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff to identify individual needs and implement appropriate support strategies

  • Building positive relationships with pupils and acting as a positive role model

  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies where required

  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing regular feedback to teaching and pastoral staff

  • Promoting a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment

Requirements &

Skills:
  • A recent degree in Sports Science, Sport and Exercise Science, Physical Education, Sports Coaching, or a related subject
    .

  • Experience working with children or young people through coaching, tutoring, mentoring, volunteering, youth work, school placements or similar settings is desirable but not essential

  • A genuine passion for supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning

  • Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills

  • Confidence building positive relationships with young people

  • An adaptable, proactive, and enthusiastic approach to learning and behaviour support

  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach when supporting pupils with challenging behaviour or additional needs

  • The ability to provide two recent professional or academic references
