Your Role

As a Science Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging and appropriately challenging Science lessons across the relevant key stages.
  • Inspire pupils through practical, investigative and theoretical science.
  • Develop pupils' knowledge and understanding across areas such as Biology, Chemistry and Physics
    , as appropriate to the curriculum.
  • Set consistently high expectations for achievement, behaviour and personal development
    .
  • Monitor pupil progress and use assessment effectively to identify gaps, misconceptions and next steps.
  • Develop pupils'
    scientific thinking, problem-solving, analysis and critical-thinking skills
    .
  • Encourage pupils to ask questions, investigate evidence and develop an understanding of scientific methodology.
  • Promote safe and responsible participation in practical scientific activities.
  • Adapt teaching to meet the needs of all pupils, including pupils with SEND and additional learning needs
    .
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Science department and across the wider school.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and the continuous improvement of teaching and learning.
  • Support pupils' wider development and prepare them for further education, employment and life beyond school.
  • Contribute positively to the wider life and culture of the school.

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an appropriate recognised teaching qualification.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Science and the ability to teach across the relevant key stages.
