About the role:

We are recruiting for a confident and resilient Behaviour Support Worker to join a secondary school in Leeds on a long-term supply basis from September. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting young people, promoting positive behaviour, and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning in a structured and supportive school environment.

As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and senior leaders to support pupils who may display challenging behaviour or require additional emotional and social support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support pupils with behaviour, engagement, and emotional regulation in lessons and around school.
  • Work one-to-one and with small groups of pupils who require additional pastoral or behavioural support.
  • Use positive behaviour strategies to encourage pupils to stay focused, follow routines, and access learning.
  • Assist teaching staff with classroom management and de-escalation where needed.
  • Build positive, professional relationships with pupils to promote confidence, resilience, and self-esteem.
Pre-requisites:
  • Experience working with young people in a school, alternative provision, youth work, mentoring, sports coaching, care, or behaviour support setting.
  • A calm, firm, and fair approach, with the confidence to manage challenging situations professionally.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Patience, resilience, and a genuine commitment to helping young people succeed.

    An understanding of safeguarding and the importance of maintaining professional boundaries.
