Leeds Conservatoire are looking for an experienced, versatile and research-informed Lecturer
to contribute to Film, Television and Games Music provision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The successful applicant will teach across composition, orchestration, arranging, music production, scoring to picture, DAW techniques, practice-based research and project supervision across BA and MA programmes.

The role combines practical, technical and research-focused teaching, supporting students at different levels to develop their creative voice, technical skills and professional practice.

Teaching will include group sessions and individual supervision, with a focus on inclusivity, creativity, technical excellence and industry relevance across film, TV, games, library music and screen industries.

• Melody, counterpoint and musical structure
• Arrangement and orchestration
• Acoustic and MIDI orchestration
• Music production for the moving image
• Logic Pro and industry-standard DAW workflows
• MIDI sequencing and audio editing
• Software instruments and sample libraries
• Music synchronisation and scoring to picture
• Library music and alternative delivery formats
• Notation, score preparation and musical realisation
• Creative collaboration and responding to briefs
• Practice-based and practice-led research
• Research methods and critical analysis
• Reflective writing and contextualisation
• Undergraduate final projects

Module allocation may vary each year, with the successful applicant contributing to teaching, module leadership, supervision, assessment and second marking across BA and MA programmes. Teaching areas and hours may vary depending on curriculum, student numbers and programme needs.

• Deliver engaging and inclusive teaching in composition for film, TV, games and other moving-image media.
• Teach composition, orchestration, harmony, melody, structure and music-to-picture techniques.
• Develop students’ practical skills in Logic Pro, MIDI, DAWs, recording, mixing, sound design and production.
• Support research, creative projects and composition portfolios, including analysis, reflection and academic practice.
• Provide individual tutorials, feedback and project supervision, supporting students to develop their creativity, technical skills and professional practice.

• Degree in composition, film music, music production, screen scoring or a relevant discipline.
• Professional experience as a composer, arranger, orchestrator or music producer in film, TV, games or related media.
• Strong knowledge of composition, orchestration, music-to-picture and contemporary production techniques, including Logic Pro, MIDI and DAWs.
• Experience of teaching, mentoring or supervising students, with the ability to provide clear and constructive feedback.
• Excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills, with an inclusive and student-centred approach.
