Special Needs Teaching Assistant Leeds | Full-Time | Immediate Start | Temporary to Permanent Opportunity

Career Teachers are proud to be working in partnership with a warm, welcoming, and highly supportive SEN school in Leeds that is seeking dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistants to join their team immediately. These are full-time positions running for the remainder of the academic year, with the exciting opportunity to secure a permanent contract for the right candidates.

This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and helping them unlock their full potential in a nurturing educational environment.

The Role

As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), learning difficulties, and complex behavioural needs. Working closely with teachers and therapists, you will help create a positive and inclusive learning experience for every student.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing tailored one-to-one and small group support
  • Assisting with the delivery of engaging learning activities
  • Supporting pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Building positive relationships that encourage confidence and independence
  • Implementing behaviour management strategies effectively
  • Promoting a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
What We’re Looking For

  • Have previous experience working with vulnerable children and young people
  • Are confident managing challenging behaviours in a calm and professional manner
  • Possess strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Demonstrate resilience, patience, and empathy
  • Have experience in SEN, care, youth work, support work, residential settings, mental health services, or similar environments
  • Are committed to helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve success
