The role

As a Teacher of English, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging and purposeful English lessons across KS3 and KS4.

You will inspire pupils to become confident readers, thoughtful writers and articulate communicators.

Your responsibilities will include:

Planning and delivering engaging English Language and Literature lessons.

Teaching pupils across KS3 and KS4.

Creating a positive classroom environment built around high expectations.

Supporting pupils to make strong academic progress.

Using assessment effectively to identify strengths, gaps and next steps.

Differentiating and adapting teaching to meet individual pupil needs.

Supporting pupils with SEND and other additional learning needs.

Developing pupils’ reading, writing, vocabulary and analytical skills.

Preparing pupils effectively for GCSE examinations where appropriate.

Maintaining high standards of behaviour, presentation and participation.

Working collaboratively with colleagues within the English department and across the school.

Communicating effectively with parents/carers where appropriate.

Contributing to the wider life of the school.

Taking an active role in safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.

Who we're looking for

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an appropriate recognised teaching qualification.

English specialists with strong subject knowledge.
