As an Educational Engagement Student Ambassador, you will work as part of a highly motivated, professional team to deliver presentations and facilitate workshops about: the benefits of higher education; your degree specialism; and your experience of studying at the University. These events are delivered, either in person at schools/colleges, on campus or online. Further duties include hosting taster events, higher education experience days, campus tours, off campus events with partner organisations and supporting residential events, including summer schools.

What does the role entail?

As a Student Ambassador your main duties will include:

o Developing and delivering face to face presentations introducing young people to university and to your subject area;
o Creating online presentations, for pre-recorded and live sessions, introducing young people to university and your subject areas;
o Visiting a range of schools and colleges to inspire young learners, promoting progression to university and encouraging interest in your area of study;
o Supporting on campus and online events for school pupils and teachers interested in learning more about HE and your subject area.
o Chaperoning students and their teachers on taster events, higher education experience days and hosting campus tours.
o Working in groups with young people exploring all aspects of higher education and your subject specialism
o Supporting on campus residential events, including summer schools
o Assisting in the preparation of resources and setting up of events
o Working collaboratively with other Student Ambassadors and the Educational Engagement team;
o For Student Ambassadors working on Lifelong Learning Centre specific events and activities, work will include supporting at open days, selection days, welcome and social events - with a specific focus on mature, part-time and foundation-level learners
o Providing general support for Educational Engagement as appropriate.

You will work alongside Educational Engagement teams to determine the most appropriate content to include in your sessions and the most suitable methods of delivery.

These duties provide a framework for the role and should not be regarded as a definitive list. Travel is required as part of the role and other reasonable duties may be required consistent with the grade of the post.

Our events and projects are designed to give students a greater insight into higher education, making university-level study accessible and desirable to school and college students from groups who are under-represented at university.
