Milk Education are currently recruiting for a resilient, patient and passionate Teaching Assistant to join a small alternative provision in Leeds.

The provision supports Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students who have struggled to engage within mainstream education and may be at risk of permanent exclusion. With a small student cohort, staff can take a highly individualised and relationship-led approach to supporting young people.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who understands that positive relationships are at the heart of successful behaviour management and who wants to help young people rebuild confidence, re-engage with education and recognise their potential
.

• Support students across KS3 and KS4 within lessons and throughout the school day
• Build positive, trusting relationships with young people who may be reluctant to engage
• Support teachers with classroom activities and help students access learning
• Provide pastoral and emotional support where required
• Promote positive behaviour through clear, consistent boundaries
• Encourage students to develop confidence, resilience and independence
• Adapt your approach to meet different learning needs and abilities
• Help students overcome barriers to engagement and participation
• Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, families and other professionals
• Contribute to a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding and professional conduct

We are looking for someone who is calm, approachable, resilient and genuinely passionate about working with young people
.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience working with children or young people
• Experience in a school, alternative provision, SEN, pastoral, youth work or similar environment
• Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
• The confidence to establish clear boundaries while remaining supportive and approachable
• A patient and consistent approach when working with challenging or disengaged students
• The ability to remain calm under pressure
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A good sense of humour and the ability to connect with young people
• A genuine belief in the ability of young people to make positive progress

Experience supporting young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour, SEND or previous difficulties in mainstream education would be highly desirable.
