Outdoor Tutors - Scotland

Scottish Outdoor Education Centres (SOEC) are looking for Outdoor Tutor Staff for the 2027 season

SOEC is a charity and social enterprise and has spent over 80 years enabling people to access the outdoors and the environment in a safe and sustainable way.

Full time/part time – full time fixed term (part time considered)
Temporary – fixed term Feb-October
Salary - £25,885.60 per annum pro rata

Location:

We are recruiting for our 3 Centres, all in Scotland.

Contract Duration
:
Fixed term from February to October. Potential for extension into the winter months.

Opportunities for shorter contracts or flexible options available.

Responsibilities
:
Inspire and empower young people through outdoor learning activities. You’ll stay with the same group all week, adapting sessions to meet their needs.

Requirements
: A genuine interest in the education and development of young people, relevant outdoor qualifications, and ideally a driving licence.

Locations
: SOEC have 3 locations:

• Broomlee Centre
  - West Linton, Scottish Borders.
• Dounans Centre
  - Found in Aberfoyle, Stirling.

Each centre provides a unique setting for outdoor education, offering a variety of activities and programmes designed to inspire and educate young people.

Outdoor Tutor positions at the Scottish Outdoor Education Centres (SOEC), typically need experience and/or qualifications such as:

• Experience:
  
  Practical experience in outdoor education and working with young people.
• First Aid Certification: A current first aid certificate is essential – SOEC can offer this as part of training.
• Mountain Training Awards (e.g., ML, RCI), Paddle UK Awards (e.g., PSI, PSL)
• Driving Licence:
  While not vital, having a driving licence is preferred.
