Job Description & How to Apply Below

Start date to be agreed with the successful candidate

We are excited to announce that, from September 2027, we will be launching in full our Artisan Teacher Programme. It is our hope and intention to pilot some of the programme’s content before the end of this academic year.

Over the course of the last two years a small team has driven forward the process of researching and preparing the five modules which will make up the Artisan Teacher Programme. The successful applicant will take forward that critically important work to a position of actual delivery from September 2027 onwards.

We believe the Artisan Teacher Programme to be of national significance. We already have a number of partner organisations who are keen to join us on this exciting journey and we have established other strong partnerships with higher education providers in the delivery of the programme.

Our programme will ensure that all teachers within GORSE benefit from expert support and mentorship throughout Years 3, 4 and 5 of their careers. This will ensure that our pupil and student population benefits from even higher teaching standards which, in almost every case, are of an Artisan standard.

Our first Director of the programme will be an expert teacher who is capable of truly inspiring other professionals across all phases of teaching. They will have already displayed secure and impactful leadership skills which, most importantly, have been beneficial regarding the progress of pupils and students.

The successful candidate will be seconded to the central team for the equivalent of two days each week in the first instance. There is an expectation that this commitment will increase over time. In the other three days the successful candidate will continue to teach in their current role within the trust.

What we offer you:

As a trust, we want to ensure that professionals at every stage in their career have the opportunity to enjoy expert support and training. We are pleased to offer a generous benefits package to our team – as we work together to create a rewarding future for all including:

  • Membership of a teacher or local government pension scheme, depending on the role.
  • A commitment to continued investment in our professionals, supporting every member of staff throughout their career in the trust.
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Programme which provides confidential professional advice and support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • £2k Cycle to work scheme.

About us:

Led by Sir John Townsley, GORSE has a well-known reputation for changing the deal for children and young adults who come from some of the most impoverished parts of the country. Our central mission is to ensure that we play a significant role in removing the stubborn link between poverty and academic underperformance. Consequently, our students and our professionals are in the vanguard of the national drive which seeks to prove that where teaching is excellent, leadership inspiring and behaviour standards exemplary all children excel regardless of background.

Our 15 academies, our central team, our Teaching School Hub and GORSE SCITT work in a tightknit manner which sees our students prospering as a result of great partnership. Our professionals recognise the enormous advantage that comes from belonging to a network of excellence and we as a trust recognise that there is much to be gained when great organisations work with integrity, moral purpose and determination.
