A leading civil engineering contractor with a strong presence across the North of England is looking to recruit an experienced Site Agent to support a growing portfolio of infrastructure and civils projects in the Leeds region. The company delivers major works across highways, drainage, earthworks, structures, utilities, public realm and energy infrastructure, offering excellent long‑term stability and career progression.
THE ROLEAs Site Agent, you will take a key leadership role on site, managing day‑to‑day operations, supervising teams, and ensuring the safe, efficient, and high‑quality delivery of civil engineering works. You will work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, subcontractors, and clients to drive performance, maintain programme, and achieve commercial and quality targets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead the daily site management of civil engineering projects in the Leeds area.
- Oversee site teams, labour, plant, and subcontractors to ensure safe and productive delivery.
- Ensure compliance with CDM, company procedures, and industry HSEQ standards.
- Review drawings, specifications, and design information to ensure technical accuracy.
- Manage daily briefings, RAMS, permits to work, and site records.
- Maintain programme performance, identify delays, and implement corrective actions.
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and local authorities to ensure smooth project progression.
- Work with commercial teams on cost control, variations, and subcontractor management.
- Produce site reports, progress updates, and maintain strong documentation.
- Drive a positive safety culture and lead by example on site.
Essential:
- Strong experience as a Site Agent, Sub Agent, or Senior Engineer within civil engineering.
- Background in highways, drainage, earthworks, structures, utilities, or general civils.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to coordinate multi‑discipline teams.
- Excellent understanding of construction processes, HSEQ legislation, and CDM regulations.
- Ability to read drawings, plan works, manage resources, and maintain site records.
- CSCS (Gold/Black), SMSTS, and First Aid qualifications.
Desirable:
- Experience with NEC projects.
- Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) or Supervisor (TWS).
- Experience in delivering public sector or framework projects.
