The Senior Process Safety Technologist provides advanced technical safety expertise across EET Fuels’ Upper Tier COMAH sites, ensuring regulatory compliance and reducing major accident hazards to ALARP. The role supports and leads process safety programmes, risk assessments, incident learning, and safety performance improvement while influencing standards, culture, and operational decision‑making.
Working closely with HSSEQ, operations, maintenance, and assurance teams, the role ensures robust risk management, high‑quality safety studies, and strong alignment to EET Fuels’ integrated management system. It also engages with regulators, external networks, and third‑ party specialists to maintain industry‑leading safety practices.
Key Focus Areas- Embed COMAH requirements and develop/maintain safety standards.
- Lead or act as SME for HAZOP, LOPA, QRA, HAC, and major hazard studies.
- Drive incident learning, assurance activities, audits, and KPI reporting.
- Champion continuous improvement, training, and safety culture initiatives.
- Support emergency response duties and ensure all plant changes meet ALARP.
You will bring a strong technical foundation, ideally with a degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline. Chartered status is advantageous but not essential. You should have experience in process engineering, operations, or a similar role, with a solid understanding of COMAH regulations and compliance expectations. Practical experience applying process safety methodologies and calculations—particularly within Upper Tier COMAH manufacturing environments—is essential.
Familiarity with safety, environmental challenges, and integrated management systems will further support your success.
You will be an effective, clear communicator who can confidently brief stakeholders at all levels and constructively challenge established thinking to drive better outcomes. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a pragmatic, flexible mindset are essential, along with a genuine commitment to safety and environmental performance.
You Will Also Bring- Experience facilitating or contributing to key process safety studies (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA).
- A proactive approach to problem‑solving and continuous improvement.
- The ability to interpret technical data and translate it into practical actions.
- Confidence working across disciplines and influencing without authority.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, internally and externally.
