We’re working with a fast-growing, specialist maritime civil engineering consultancy delivering projects across marinas, harbours, ports, and waterfront infrastructure internationally. They’re now looking for a Principal Maritime Civil Engineer to take ownership of technical delivery, influence strategy, and play a key role in scaling their marine capability.
The RoleYou’ll lead engineering design, project delivery, and client engagement across a diverse portfolio of marine and coastal projects.
This is a hands‑on leadership role, combining technical excellence with commercial and client‑facing responsibility.
Key Responsibilities Engineering & Technical Leadership- Lead design of maritime infrastructure (pontoons, jetties, quay walls, breakwaters, flood defences, etc.)
- Produce and review calculations, drawings, and design reports
- Carry out structural, geotechnical, and stability assessments
- Drive quality, innovation, and practical engineering solutions
- Manage projects end‑to‑end (concept through to construction & handover)
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, contractors, and stakeholders
- Support bids, tenders, and business development activity
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team growth
- Support marine licensing and consenting processes
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g. CDM, Eurocodes, BS6349)
- Contribute to environmental and sustainability‑focused design
- Degree in Civil, Structural, Marine, or Coastal Engineering
- Chartered (ICE / IStruct
E) - Strong experience in maritime/coastal engineering
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and structural analysis tools (e.g. STAAD, Robot, STRAP)
- Confident communicator with client‑facing experience
- Willingness to travel to project sites when required
- Shape the direction of a growing consultancy
- Work across design, strategy, and client development
- Build processes, mentor teams, and leave a lasting impact
