Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Salary: from £48,000 to £65,000 per year DOE

Monday to Friday, no weekends

Our client is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team, based in Leeds with agile working arrangements. This is a permanent, full‑time role (36.25 hours per week) within a forward‑thinking engineering consultancy.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a central role within the team, taking ownership of your work and supporting junior colleagues.

Responsibilities include:

• Acting as Project Leader on selected schemes
• Contributing as part of a wider team on larger projects
• Attending key meetings and presenting to clients
• Raising technical standards within the mechanical engineering discipline
• Developing into a key point of contact for major clients
• Supporting repeat business through strong client care
• Working on a diverse range of technically challenging projects
• Engaging with clients throughout all project stages
• Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary colleagues
• Producing drawings, specifications and guiding others on calculations

Our client is looking for candidates with:

• A degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (Chartered or working towards), or HNC/HND with relevant design experience
• Proficiency with software such as Microsoft Office, Relux/Dialux, Amtech and Revit
• Knowledge of British/European Standards and Building Regulations
• Understanding of HTMs (beneficial)
• Professional membership (CIBSE, IET)
• Good understanding of HV/LV systems
• Awareness of embedded generation and renewable technologies
• Working knowledge of BREEAM
• Ability to engage in electrical discussions at meetings
• A proactive attitude and desire to develop professionally
