Role descriptionWe are looking to recruit Field Technicians, to join our Site Evaluation and Restoration (SER) team delivering projects throughout the UK. As a Field Technician you will be an integrated member of our UK-wide Environmental team, working on projects across various industries.
The position is for field-based staff undertaking the collection of data to assist our construction projects as well as environmental and geo-environmental site assessments. Training will be provided to successful candidates so no previous experience is needed but you must be willing and able to work independently.
Role accountabilities- Environmental monitoring - Use of portable equipment such as surveying equipment, Photo Ionization Detectors (PIDs) and landfill gas analysers to collect data as specified by the Project Team.
- Environmental sampling - Collection of groundwater and surface water samples. This may include the use of portable equipment such as interface probes, dip meters, multiparameter meters and groundwater pumps.
- Geotechnical Data Capture – Collection of data from instrumentation, such as inclinometers.
- Supervision of third‑party activities to ensure works are completed in line with both the clients and Arcadis’ expectations around quality and Health and Safety.
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with Arcadis staff and client contacts on projects.
- Implementing personal workload in line with both the clients and Arcadis’ expectations around quality and Health and Safety.
- Ensuring that where practicable all data collection onsite is in a digital format using tablet devices or laptops.
- Timely submission of timesheets and the data captured to the wider project teams.
- Performing of other duties and responsibilities as requires from time to time by your manager or Arcadis.
- Clean and valid UK driving licence
- Minimum of 1 A‑Level or equivalent in a Science related discipline.
- Be self‑motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Willingness to work away from base location as the role primarily comprises working on client sites. Vehicles, equipment, overnight accommodation, and reasonable expenses are covered by the company whilst working away.
- Good understanding of using basic software on devices such as android tablets to ensure all data capture is in a digital format immediately transferable from the field.
