Job Description Overview

AtkinsRéalis Building & Places Practice have a vacancy in our Leeds office covering the North region, for a Chartered Building Surveyor/ Building Surveyor to work in a multi‑disciplinary environment to deliver a full suite of Building Surveying services. The role offers varied and interesting work with high‑profile public and private sector clients and is ideal for a professional who has a strong ambition to progress, enjoys working collaboratively, and has experience managing client relationships and dealing with legal and technical issues.

Role
  • Work across a number of projects in different sectors and provide a range of building surveying / project management duties.
  • Assisting with the development of new and repeat business.
  • Manage client relationships and service delivery on a project‑by‑project basis.
  • Project management and contract administration duties.
  • Carry out condition and measured surveys, due diligence surveys, defect analysis and building surveys.
  • Produce professional reports and specifications.
  • Stay abreast of industry issues and developments in best practice.
  • Lead multidisciplinary design teams when appropriate to the level of experience.
About You
  • BSc (Hon's) Building Surveying RICS Accredited degree or equivalent.
  • Full member of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, MCIOB or similar (desirable).
  • Demonstrable all‑round surveying experience in a client‑facing role.
  • Experience in project design and delivery, including refurbishment and extension projects up to £1m capex.
  • Experience of both pre and post‑contract project management responsibilities.
  • Good team working skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Prepared to travel as required.
  • Fluent AutoCAD user;
    Revit experience is an advantage.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety requirements, including CDM 2015 & BSA 2023.
  • Desirable experience in sectors such as education, local authorities, health care, central government and infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with standard building contracts such as JCT and NEC.

Security Clearance

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will depend on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK for five years or longer.
