About

The Role

We are looking for a professional with experience of working within the Flood & Climate Resilience Management sector. Your background may be hydrology, geography, civil engineering, Town & Country planning, or a related subject. This role offers a diverse and challenging workload. You will provide technical support to the Development Control team and to other teams within Flood Risk Management, develop partnerships within the council and with external parties, and contribute to policy and advisory notes.

Job Description Responsibilities
  • Support and contribute to reducing the risk of flooding by ensuring flood risk is considered at all stages of the development process
  • Live and model council values and behaviours to help us achieve our ambition of becoming the best city council in the country
  • Play an important role in ensuring the council is more enterprising and efficient and that proper arrangements for the administration and delivery of flood risk management are in place
  • Be motivated to achieve Corporate Plan, Service Plan and Divisional Plan objectives
  • Promote and deliver positive solutions to achieving diversity and equality in all aspects of service delivery and community engagement
  • Provide technical support to the processes and procedures operated within the team
  • Ensure compliance with council policies and contribution to the sustainability agenda
  • Carry out investigation of land drainage and flooding problems and report findings
  • Ensure the team delivers against its KPIs and provides a high quality, cost‑effective flood risk advisory service
  • Support and assist in the development of policies and maintain awareness of Health and Safety legislation
  • Maintain awareness of key planning and drainage legislation and surface water drainage design and associated software, including SuDS
Qualifications

HNC/HND or similar relevant qualification or comparable senior level experience.
