Principal EIA Consultant

Leeds • £45‑60k DOE

Our client is seeking a motivated, experienced Principal EIA Consultant to join their growing EIA team in Leeds. This role offers hybrid working flexibility and the opportunity to contribute to a diverse portfolio of high‑profile projects.

Role

As an experienced Principal EIA Consultant, you will coordinate environmental inputs for major EIA projects supporting proposals for large-scale infrastructure and major development projects across transport, renewable energy and property sectors. You will work with internal technical specialists and designers to manage environmental inputs through early strategy, feasibility, outline and detailed design, and discharge of conditions. You will liaison with clients and sub‑consultants, help prepare fee proposals, and author environmental reports and EIA documentation within consenting regimes such as Development Consent Orders and Town & Country Planning.

Skills and Experience
  • A relevant environmental degree level qualification in EIA or similar.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of EIA processes and UK legislation.
  • Broad technical understanding of key environmental disciplines and development projects.
  • Significant experience leading complex, multi-disciplinary EIAs, including responsibility for producing and managing screening and scoping documentation, consultation documentation, and Environmental Statements (ES) to a high standard.
  • Excellent verbal and report‑writing skills, including EIA review of technical reporting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of an established team, coordinating specialist technical inputs and meeting deadlines.
  • Highly organised and methodical approach with strong competency in project‑management tools, budget tracking and coordination of deliverables.
  • Extensive experience engaging with a wide variety of stakeholder groups.
  • Proven experience of financial control and project management.
  • Experience in line management or close oversight of junior team members.
  • Experience of bid preparation and business development activities.
