Job Description:
Title: Asset Verification Engineer - Industrial Plant (Kemsley, UK)
Day Rate:£185-£210/day (contract) - Mid level
Contract Duration:6 months (full-time, on-site)
Location:Kemsley, ME10
Role overviewMid-level engineer responsible for end-to-end physical asset verification over a 6-month programme, including data capture, tagging, condition assessment, and first-line reconciliation against SAP / asset registers. You will be one of the core delivery engineers on a plant-wide survey.
Key responsibilities- Conduct systematic surveys across production lines, utilities and support areas to identify all in-scope assets.
- Capture full technical details from equipment nameplates into structured forms.
- Create and affix new asset tags where missing; update tag references in the survey system.
- Classify assets (mechanical / electrical / instrument) and assign to the correct plant / area / system hierarchy.
- Assess and record asset condition, operational status, and safety observations.
- Compare field data with SAP / CAFM records and flag discrepancies (description, location, capacity, missing assets).
- Support junior engineers in use of templates, tag standards and photo evidence.
- Meet daily throughput targets while maintaining accuracy and completeness.
- Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments and continuous improvement feedback.
- HNC / HND or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering discipline.
- 2-5 years' experience in industrial, utilities, FM, or building services environments (maintenance, projects, or surveys).
- Prior experience in asset surveys, condition surveys, or asset register updates is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with SAP PM / EAM, CAFM, or similar asset management systems (user level).
- Confident working independently across a large site, with strong organisation and time management.
- Solid written and verbal communication for clear defect/observation notes.
- Experience on paper mills, process plants, or heavy industry sites.
- Experience using structured survey software on tablets.
