We are looking for Project Managers to deliver exciting, innovative projects that reduce the risk of flooding to communities and enhance the environment.

The role sits in Project & programme Delivery (PPD) and is a prominent position within our integrated project teams, taking responsibility for the management of projects as the Client project manager. The role holder will manage the project delivery process by building a collaborative working relationship with stakeholders from initial strategic planning, through to feasibility, detailed design and then into implementation, construction and handover.

You will liaise with technical leads to make project decisions ensuring governance, assurance and legislation are followed.

You will build a great working environment to create high performing teams including our suppliers, client representatives, technical specialists and other partners. Applying your strong commercial acumen in project, contract and risk management, you will establish effective relationships, facilitating collaborative and efficient ways of working.

The ability to develop a resilient network of relationships with stakeholders such as statutory authorities, landowners and local communities to negotiate agreements, consents and approvals is crucial.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do, you will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

The team Each PPD Hub is led by a Delivery Manager overseeing 70-120 staff, supported by Programme Specialists Programme Managers and Project Team Managers (PTM). Each PTM manages 8-15 Project Executives, Project Managers and Project Support Officers who manage the daily delivery of projects within our flood & coastal erosion risk management flood programme using framework suppliers. Other internal roles forming part of our integrated delivery teams include commercial, environmental, financial, estates and legal.

Experience/skills required A degree (or equivalent) in an engineering, environmental or geography related discipline. Ideally working toward chartered membership of a professional body such as ICE, CIWEM or APMP desired but not essential.

Areas of expertise that would support role include: hydrology, river modelling, feasibility assessment, asset management, business case development, cost monitoring/forecasting, scope preparation, CDM, engineering design and construction.

Experience in project and contract and management, ideally within engineering, construction and/or flood & coastal risk management.

Some working experience of delivering results on technical projects as part of a technical team would be advantageous.

Ability to develop self and support other team members in delivery of work.

Good interpersonal and influencing skills of internal and external stakeholders is important to ensure a collaborative environment and a desire to develop further in the role.
