The OpportunityThe Environment Team provides integrated Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), planning and environmental consenting services for major infrastructure, regeneration, energy, transport and development projects. The team works closely with clients and multidisciplinary design teams to identify environmental constraints early, embed environment-led design, undertake option appraisal, coordinate specialist environmental studies, and deliver robust consenting strategies. Recent examples include the delivery of EIA and environmental coordination for the Caledonia Offshore Windfarm, Keadby Next Generation Hydrogen, White Horse Reservoir, A66 Highway Scheme, where Arup led environmental assessment, stakeholder engagement, planning support and multidisciplinary Environmental Statements to secure project consent while enhancing environmental outcomes and community benefits.
The team provides expertise across ecology, landscape, cultural heritage, water environment, air quality, noise, climate, socioeconomics and sustainability, helping clients successfully navigate complex planning and regulatory processes. The Environment team works as part of a multidisciplinary team of environmental, planning, engineering and urban design specialists, supported by Arup’s global skills networks and subject matter leaders who provide technical leadership and share best practice across regions.
You would be:
- Writing sections of environmental reports including EIA screening letters, EIA scoping reports, non-technical sections of Environmental Statements
- Supporting the review of technical inputs for alignment with project details and EIA compliance
- Inputting to environmental design and applying environmental-led design principles
- Interfacing with project teams both internal and external and developing project management and commercial skills
- Communicating and liaising with clients and contributing to bids and presentations
Is this role right for you?
For this opportunity, we are seeking the following qualifications, skills and attributes:
- A bachelor's degree in relevant academic discipline, such as Geography & Geospatial Science, Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science
- MS applications, EIA, organisation, co-ordination and collaborative working across teams

- No more than 12 months of full-time experience in a comparable role
- Recently graduated, or on track to graduate, from your most recent degree, related to your role of choice, before employment starts.
