Our client, a well established and steadily expanding organisation, is seeking a Service Charge Accountant to join their growing finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with detailed financial information, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring accuracy across complex cost data.
You do not need to be formally qualified for this position. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn are far more important. The team offers a friendly, collaborative environment where new colleagues are supported as they develop.

The Role:
Working closely with both internal teams and external stakeholders, you will be responsible for reviewing financial information, validating charges, reconciling accounts, and resolving discrepancies. The role suits someone who enjoys structured work, problem solving, and producing accurate, reliable financial outputs.
Key Responsibilities
- Reviewing financial documents to confirm accuracy of charges and rates
- Approving invoices and maintaining internal systems
- Reconciling ledgers and performing both routine and investigative checks
- Verifying that payments have been correctly recorded by external parties
- Calculating financial adjustments and caps
- Analysing data to identify errors or irregularities
- Securing corrections or refunds where required
- Requesting and reviewing supporting information from third parties
- Preparing clear, structured financial reports
- Assisting with annual forecasting and longer term financial planning
- Attending client meetings via phone, video call, or in person
- Supporting the wider team with additional tasks as needed
- Experience with accounts payable or similar financial processes is helpful but not essential
- Strong Excel skills
- Good working knowledge of Outlook
- Previous exposure to service charges would be preferable, though full training will be provided
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical thinking
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
