Hiring Manager: Senior Investment Director
Contract Type: Permanent
About the RoleThis is an entry level role in to Wealth Management designed to develop core knowledge of investment & portfolio management, client support and service, technical skills, as well as an awareness of financial planning and commercial acumen. This role provides a strong foundation in Wealth Management and builds an understanding of compliance, risk and business development. In this role you will work towards qualified status.
What you’ll be responsible forClient Service & Suitability
- Deliver a consistent, high-quality client experience through proactive engagement and clear communication using a Rathbones tone of voice.
- Support the team’s suitability requirements, including awareness of vulnerability.
- Develop an understanding of financial planning, investment management and other services to enable positive, integrated client outcomes.

- With support and supervision, interpret market conditions and contribute to investment discussions, model build and portfolio construction.
- Gain proficiency in systems (e.g. Fact Set, RID, Seismic) and prepare meeting packs, proposals and suitability documentation.
- Develop knowledge of quantitative methods, financial maths, statistics and economics
- Support the preparation of pitches, proposals, and performance reviews for prospective and existing clients.
- Participate in training on presentation skills, delivering the Rathbones pitch and wider industry awareness.
- Begin building an external network to support future referrals and commercial opportunities.
- Engage in shadowing, mentoring, and collaborative learning with peers and experienced colleagues.
- Attend research meetings, internal forums, and CPD events.
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to self-development and feedback.
- Exposure to financial services, investment, or client-facing environments.
- Experience preparing documentation, presentations, or reports as well as a skilled user of Excel
- Understanding of investment principles, risk frameworks, and regulatory environment.
- Strong analytical and research capabilities.
- Proficiency in financial systems and tools (e.g. Fact Set)
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Client-centric mindset with a proactive approach to service.
- Collaborative, curious, and commercially aware.
- Demonstrates integrity, attention to detail, decision making skills and accountability.
