We are partnering with a well-established energy supplier based in Guiseley to secure a sharp, analytical, and tenacious Revenue Protection Officer
. In this role, you will act as a critical line of defense against financial loss, taking ownership of identifying and investigating potential revenue leakage, incorrect consumption, billing irregularities, and suspected energy theft across gas and electricity accounts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Risk Identification: Proactively identify revenue protection risks using exception reports, consumption trends, smart-meter data, meter readings, and account activity.
  • End-to-End Investigation: Own complex gas and electricity investigations from initial identification through to a compliant, defensible resolution.
  • Desktop Analysis: Conduct thorough desktop investigations, validate reads, and review meter, tenancy, and technical account information.
  • Field Coordination: Coordinate field activity seamlessly with metering agents, data collectors, Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), gas transporters, and specialist revenue-protection teams.
  • Financial Calculation: Accurately calculate estimated consumption, back-bills, and billing adjustments in accordance with industry and regulatory requirements.
  • Stakeholder & Customer Management: Handle escalated or disputed customer cases, negotiating and agreeing upon repayment, settlement, or resolution options.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Billing, Collections, Customer Service, Complaints, Legal, and Fraud teams to drive cases to closure.
  • Process Improvement: Audit cases, identify root causes of revenue leakage, and recommend actionable improvements to internal processes and controls.

Candidate Profile & Requirements

  • Domain

    Experience:

    Proven background in revenue protection, revenue assurance, complex billing, collections, fraud investigation, or regulated utility operations.
  • Technical Acumen: Strong analytical capability, advanced Excel skills, and demonstrated experience interpreting consumption or smart-meter data.
  • Communication & Negotiation: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to handle escalated customer conversations with tact and firmness.
  • Regulatory Awareness: Sound understanding of utility industry frameworks, back-billing rules, and compliance standards.

Compliance

  • Background Check: The successful candidate must be willing to undergo and pass an Enhanced DBS check
