Following significant strategic investment and expansion with the acquisition of a Top 50 firm, the business is seeking an experienced VAT Director to strengthen its indirect tax offering in the North and support its ambitious growth plans.

Your new role

As VAT Director, you will take on a senior leadership role within the tax team, focusing on delivering expert VAT advisory services while helping to drive the strategic growth of the indirect tax function. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, clients, and colleagues across the business.

Leading the delivery of high-quality VAT advisory and compliance services

Acting as a trusted advisor to a broad portfolio of clients across multiple sectors

Managing and developing client relationships, identifying opportunities for growth

Advising on complex VAT matters, including structuring, international VAT, and risk management

Supporting business development and contributing to winning new work Leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing VAT team Collaborating with other service lines to provide integrated client solutions

Ensuring technical excellence and keeping up to date with legislative changes

What you'll need to succeed

To succeed in this role, you will be a commercially minded VAT specialist with strong technical expertise and leadership experience.

CTA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification

Significant experience at Senior Manager or Director level in VAT/indirect tax Strong technical knowledge of UK VAT, with international exposure being advantageous

Proven ability to manage complex client engagementsA track record of developing business and building long-term client relationships

Strong leadership and team development skills

Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
