Environment and Land Use Adviser (North Region) – Fixed term contract for 9 months

Pay: Approximately £41,000 (dependent on skills and experience) plus company car or car allowance.

Location: Home based with regular travel throughout the North region.

Working hours: 35 hours per week.

Contract type: Fixed term contract for 9 months.

You will provide technical and policy guidance to NFU members on a variety of land use, infrastructure, planning and environment issues across the region. You will develop initiatives that further our members’ interests and influence local policy on land use matters. To achieve this, you will establish strong professional networks and regularly meet with farmers, rural professionals and wider regional stakeholders.

• Attend meetings and participate in forums to represent NFU positions.
• Collaborate across NFU teams to align on policy objectives.

• Experienced rural professional with a passion for agriculture, land management and rural land‑use policy.
• Excellent communicator, highly organized and engaging with the farming community.
• Knowledge of the North region and its land‑based businesses is advantageous.
• Flexibility to work outside standard hours and undertake extensive travel within the region.
