Information Governance Manager & Data Protection Officer (DPO)
£50,938 per annum - Grade 9

Please note that the Combined Authority will consider requests for part-time working and/or job share. The Combined Authority is seeking an experienced Information Governance Manager & Data Protection Officer to join our Legal and Governance team. In this key role, you will support our Information Governance function, manage a small team, and ensure we meet all statutory responsibilities under the Data Protection Act 2018, UK GDPR, the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004.
As Information Governance Manager, you will drive a range of strategic projects, provide expert guidance to senior leaders, and help shape a strong, compliant information culture across the organisation.

The Role
Reporting into the Service Lead (Governance, Compliance & Risk), your key responsibilities will include:
· Taking the strategic lead on all matters of Information Governance, including Data Protection, Freedom of Information & Records Management
· Effectively leading and managing the Information Governance team in delivering an efficient and effective Information Governance Service.
· Undertaking the statutory role of the Data Protection Officer and acting autonomously and independently to carry out statutory duties.

About You
You will have the following key skills, attributes, education, and experience:
· Experience of providing expert advice on all matters relating to DPA (Data Protection Act), Freedom of Information requests (FOI), Environmental Information Regulations (EIR), information security and
records management.
· Accustomed to identifying and applying relevant exemptions and ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines.
· Previous experience overseeing the investigation and resolution of data breaches and regulatory enquiries.
· Demonstrable ability to communicate confidently with senior colleagues, including the Chief Executive.
