Overview
British Transport Police (BTP) is recruiting Police Officers for the Leeds office within C Division. The role involves protecting passengers, staff, and the public across the UK rail network, working both on beat and in investigative duties. The position is open to applicants who can relocate to the specified locations.
Responsibilities- Visible patrolling of key rail assets.
- Responding to emergencies and incidents.
- Conducting criminal investigations.
- Gathering intelligence and reporting.
- Building trust with communities and liaising with local stakeholders.
- Addressing graffiti, theft, theft prevention, and public reassurance.
- UK citizenship, permanent right to live and work in the UK.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Good communication skills, strong judgement, problem‑solving ability.
- Empathy, emotional resilience, and the capacity to remain calm under pressure.
- Clean criminal record; no recent custodial sentences, and no current investigations or disciplinary actions from other forces.
- Not previously dismissed from another police force.
- Met all BTP vetting checks and, if ever unsuccessful before, not within the last 12 months.
- If you have a tattoo that is deemed offensive, facial or neck tattoos are assessed on a case‑by‑case basis.
- Starting salary of £32,472, rising to £50,256 after five years.

- Not previously unsuccessful for Police Officer, Special Constable or PCSO within the last three months.
- Not dismissed from another force or under current investigation.
- No outstanding bankruptcy, CCJ or unmanaged IVA.
- Consistent residence in the UK for the past three years.
