WTE (18.75 hours) band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic
Prosthetics Team within the Specialist Rehabilitation Services.
Thispost offers a fantastic opportunity to work with adults and children withlimb difference, acquired amputation, or planned amputation, providing holistic, person-centred rehabilitation. You will work closely with the existing Band 7 Occupational Therapist, as well as physiotherapists,prosthetists, specialist nurses, psychologists, and Rehabilitation Consultants, to deliver a high-quality, multidisciplinary service that supports independence, function, and participation in meaningful life roles.
Main duties of the jobWork autonomously as a Band 6 occupational therapist, maintaining professional,legal, and ethical accountability for the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients with acquired limb loss or limb difference.
Undertake comprehensive occupational therapy assessment of patients following upper andlower limb amputation, including those with complex, multi-pathological, andlong-term conditions (e.g. vascular disease, diabetes, trauma).
Use advanced clinical reasoning and investigative skills to formulate individualised rehabilitation and prosthetic programmes.
Develop,implement, and evaluate evidence-based occupational therapy treatment plans,including pre-prosthetic and prosthetic rehabilitation and training,functional rehabilitation in ADLs, home environment assessments, assessment and provision of equipment and adaptation recommendations, work and school site visits, pain management, and patient education.
Key responsibilities include:
Delivering specialist OT assessment and intervention for patients with upper and/or lower limb absence.
Supporting clients to achieve optimal function and independence through prosthetic use, environmental adaptation, and activity modification.
Working collaboratively with theMDT to develop and implement individualised rehabilitation programmes.
Contributing to service development, audit, and education.
Supporting and supervising junior staff and students.
About usThe Prosthetic Service is one of the largest in the UK and has a full complement of highly skilled Consultants, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists,Clinical Psychologists, Prosthetists, Technical Instructors and Prosthetics Technicians who specialise in the treatment of adult and paediatric amputees.
The Prosthetics Service is part of the Wider Specialist Rehabilitation Service which also includes Leeds Wheelchair Service and Leeds Orthotic Service allof which are part of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust (LTHT). The role willbe mainly based within the Prosthetic Department with some support offered tothe other departments if required.
