Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity available for Healthcare Assistant (HCA), to join a friendly and welcoming GP Surgery in Twickenham on a permanent basis. The working hours are part‑time, with Monday and Friday shifts essential. Healthcare Assistant experience is essential, and the right candidate can receive INR Star training and other skills training.

Acorn Group Practice is seeking a skilled, committed and enthusiastic HCA to join its team. The position is part‑time and the days/hours and rate of pay will be discussed and reflect experience. Salary is negotiable depending on skills and experience.

The Healthcare Assistant will undertake the following, with training provided on certain aspects where appropriate:

• Provide high standards of nursing care and support to patients.
• Maintain respect and dignity of the patient at all times.
• Work closely with the Practice Nurse to undertake tasks relating to QOF.
• Treat, dress and monitor patients’ wounds and seek advice from other clinicians when necessary.
• Undertake ECGs.
• Undertake BP monitoring and 24‑hour BP monitoring.
• Undertake phlebotomy.
• Administer vaccines – B12, Flu, etc.
• Undertake spirometry.
• Undertake INR monitoring – training may be provided.
• Conduct NHS Health Checks and advise patients accordingly.
• Monitor fridge temperatures and record them on the practice system.
• Maintain statutory training online.
• Replenish clinical rooms and order stocks where needed.
• Change and sanitise clinical equipment and curtains.

Essential

• Phlebotomy qualification
• Vaccine administering qualification
• Confidence in wound care, health checks and 24‑hour BP monitoring

Desirable

• Previous work within a GP practice or hospital setting
• INR Star training and experience
• Spirometry experience
