Position: Administrative Officer (XN03)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate, innovative, enthusiastic andhighly motivated individual to join our existing team in the Bereavement Service at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Thisrole provides a high standard of clerical service and, where necessary,reception duties to the department of Bereavement Services, adhering to departmental guidelines and policies. The post-holder may be the first point ofcontact for the bereaved and other visitors to the department.

As a Bereavement Liaison Officer you will act as apoint of contact, support and source of advice for the relatives of deceased patients and healthcare professionals in relation to death certification and signposting to external stakeholders.

Main duties of the job

Leeds Teaching Hospitals has in excess of 3000 patient deaths per year, which inline with national guidance require review by a Medical Examiner. The postholder will work closely with the Medical Examiner Service, providing supportto the Medical Examiner / Medical Examiner Officers, and other healthcare professionals / stakeholders.

Thepost holder will undertake a range of clerical and administrative duties which will include receiving and checking documentation, reports, collation of data and processing of Medical Certificate of Cause of Death to the Leeds Register Office. In addition, the post holder will be a source of expertise and advice for relatives of deceased patients, healthcare professionals, the Coroner, Leeds City Council, registration services and other stakeholders.

Thisrole is cross site working between St James University Hospital and Leeds General Infirmary.

The postholder will be responsible for the provision of a full and effective administrative and clerical support serviceto Bereavement Services. The post holder will also be responsible for inputting data onto the departmental database system and producing reports as required.

The postholder will be expected to arrange and plan their own workload onaday-to-day basis within the overall demands and priorities of the department.

Person Specification Experience
  • Previous administrative / clerical experience work experience in a health or social care setting
  • Knowledge of the NHS / Death Certification Reforms / National Medical Examiner System

Qualifications
  • GCSE in English and Maths or Equivalent
