The post holder will be responsible for planning and delivering clinical skills to undergraduate medical students, ensuring competency is achieved in order to progress. They will have a major job responsibility to develop and deliver a broad range of practical procedure training to medical students undertaking a 5‑year MBBS program. Undertaking assessment of students’ capability and providing verbal feedback and guidance.
They will be able to competently perform and teach clinical procedures such as venepuncture and cannulation, catheterisation, setting up IV fluids/medications, SC and IM injections, blood glucose monitoring, vital signs monitoring, etc. They will work closely with the undergraduate education team to recruit and consent patients from wards and outpatient departments for participation in medical education and inclusion in the local database.

Main duties of the jobTo plan, develop and deliver clinical skill training to medical students including the development of relevant educational resources.
Responsible for ensuring students achieve proficiency in performing practical procedures (venepuncture, cannulation, catheterization, etc.).
Responsible for ensuring students are signed off as competent in practical procedures required by the GMC in order for training progression.
Be actively involved in the ongoing recruitment of volunteer patients for participation in medical education and maintenance of the local volunteer database.
Contribute to the research and the development of medical education.

- 1st Level Registered Nurse in Adult/General Nursing specialty.
- Evidence of post registration development and further academic study, ideally qualified to diploma/degree level.
- Registered Mentor.
- Clinical Assessment Qualification
- Teaching qualification
- Substantial post registration experience in and an in-depth understanding of the clinical area underpinned by theoretical knowledge.
- Experience of providing training in a variety of formats, such as individual and group sessions.
- Awareness of undergraduate medical education.
