Job overview

An exciting opportunity to work as a Senior Clinical Fellow in the Emergency Department at Royal Derby Hospital, commencing as soon as possible.

Provide clinical services to Derby, East Staffordshire and surrounding areas, diagnosing and treating patients at the hospital and clinics. Deliver continuing care and treatment of patients in your charge and provide teaching to staff in training and the multidisciplinary team.

Maintain flexible arrangements for emergency cover and provide cover for colleagues during reasonable periods of leave.

Provision of an out‑of‑hours service with colleagues on the Tier 3 or 4 rota.

Actively participate in undergraduate and postgraduate education, including training sessions for resident doctors, medical students and other healthcare staff in the specialty.

Assist in the supervision and training of medical staff/students, carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and contributing to local and national post‑graduate and CPD activity.

Participate in clinical governance activity under local arrangements.

This is NOT a CESR training post.

Main duties of the job

The ED has 24/7 middle-grade clinical cover and extended Consultant cover to 8am‑2am 7 days per week. Post holders will participate in the Tier 3 or 4 rota and ideally lead out of hours shifts.

Manage acutely ill or traumatised patients and lead an emergency team. Prioritise and time‑manage effectively according to departmental activity and utilise senior staff for advice.
