Shift Coordinators will work as part of a team to ensure the smooth running of the Leeds GP Confederation Enhanced Access Hours and Same Day Response and Urgent Care Services. Acting as the link between frontline delivery teams and the operational leadership team, they will provide real-time oversight and coordination of service activity.

Shift Coordinators will have excellent communication and relationship-building skillsand will be the first point of contact for teams on shift, escalating issues when required.

Main duties of the job

Working closely with partners such as Local Care Direct (LCD) and the NHS 111 Directory of Services team, the role ensures patients receive access to safe, appropriate,high-quality same-day response services.

The post holder will supervise reception teams on duty, support the induction of new staff, and deliver training when new processes are introduced. Highly organised and adaptable, the Shift Coordinator will be able to work under pressure and respond effectively to operational challenges to maintain service continuity.

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Service Delivery & Relationship Manager

ROLE SUMMARY

Shift Coordinators will work as part of a team to ensure the smooth running of the Leeds GP Confederation Enhanced Access Hours and Same Day Response and Urgent Care Services. Acting as the link between frontline delivery teams and the operational leadership team, they will provide real-time oversight and coordination of service activity.

Shift Coordinators will have excellent communication and relationship-building skillsand will be the first point of contact for teams on shift, escalating issues when required.

Working closely with partners such as Local Care Direct (LCD) and the NHS 111 Directory of Services team, the role ensures patients receive access to safe, appropriate,high-quality same-day response services.

The post holder will supervise reception teams on duty, support the induction of new staff, and deliver training when new processes are introduced. Highly organised and adaptable, the Shift Coordinator will be able to work under pressure and respond effectively to operational challenges to maintain service continuity.

Shift Coordinators will work on a rota covering evenings and weekends across 7 days toensure adequate cover during service operating hours and will be supported bythe operational leadership and/or Senior Manager on-call rota. The post holder will be required to work flexibly and travel to any service site across Leeds.

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • All members of the Leeds GP Confederation Enhanced Access Hours and Same Day Response teams, including central leadership and service delivery teams
  • External partners including LCD, NHS 111 Directory of Services, member practices, andother stakeholders as required

MAIN DUTIES

The postholder will be required to undertake the following duties:

Shift coordination and management support:

  • Act as the first point ofcontact for frontline staff and external partners, responding effectively toissues, enquiries, alerts, and notifications.
  • Monitor and manage servicecapacity throughout the shift.
  • Cascade relevant information to staff in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provide on-the-day support and supervision for sessional reception teams.
  • Support the induction and onboarding of new staff members.
  • Ensure staff understand andfollow relevant policies, processes, and guidelines.
  • Ensure staff have access to appropriate equipment, resources, and materials; escalating premises or equipment issues as required.
