Position: YBMTP Data Manager (XN04)

An opportunity has arisen for permanent full-time post within Paediatric Haematology and Oncology as a YBMPT Data Manager.

Thepost holder will have responsibility for data and quality management relating to those patients having transplants within the Leeds Childrens Hospital. Theywill be a part of the Paediatric Transplant Team, which is itself part of thewider Yorkshire Blood and Bone Marrow Transplant Programme YBBMTP.

TheYBBMTP includes paediatric and adult patients at LTHT, adult patients at Hulland East Yorkshire NHS Trust and adult patients at the Mid Yorkshire NHS Trusthaving allogeneic and autologous stem cell transplants.

Main duties of the job

The paediatric and adult programme undertakes 130-150 transplants per annumacross LTHT and at two satellite centres within Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHSTrust and Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.

Currently,there are around 15-20 children having allogeneic transplants and around 5patient having autografts in the Leeds Childrens Hospital each year.

Thepost holder is responsible for co-ordination of transplant specific data for children transplanted at the Leeds Childrens Hospital and for ensuring thisdata is dispatched within the allocated timescales to the specific registry.

Thepost holder is responsible for ensuring that all areas provide relevant information to support the data submission and is responsible for the systemsto enable data capture and submission to take place.

Thepost holder is expected to meet all reporting and outcome deadlines

Person Specification Additional Requirements
  • Advanced keyboard skills.
  • Good computer literacy and willingness to further computer skills.
  • PC literacy and a good working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and e-mail, and a willingness to learn new systems.
  • A good working knowledge of Access.
Experience
  • Experience of working and supervising in an office environment.
  • Proven experience of managing data, working with large data sets along with processing and reporting on said data.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate liaison with colleagues.
  • The ability to be meticulous and accurate.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to managing workload.
  • Use of databases to enter and query data.
  • Can conduct on projects successfully and follow through actions.
  • Experience of working in a customer / patient focused environment.
  • Experience of organising and taking minutes.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Awareness of the NHS Plan and Modernisation Plans
  • Understanding of haematology, particularly those conditions that may be treated with stem cell or bone marrow transplant e.g. leukaemia, lymphoma, and myeloplastic disease.
  • Experience in haematology oncology clinical data management
  • Experience of training others in the use of databases
  • Experience of using statistical methods and the essential preparation required to ensure clean data prior to conducting any analyses.
  • Experience of working in a hospital environment.
  • Knowledge of trust policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of bio-statistics
  • Clinical trials and research processes
Qualifications
  • Good basic standard of education demonstrating excellent communication skills and numeracy.
  • A level or the equivalent. Experience will be considered.
