Are you looking for an opportunity to improve the lives and wellbeing of older people experiencing dementia? Our service users need support in many aspects of their lives. An exciting opportunity has arisen within the dementia inpatient service on Ward 2 the Mount. Ward 2 provides 24‑hour assessment and treatment for females living with dementia.

We are recruiting for a role in our established Activity Coordinator Team who will work alongside the Occupational Therapy Service to provide person‑centred care for people with dementia. The jobholder will be actively involved in planning, organising and delivering high‑quality and meaningful recreational activities on an individual or group basis. duties of the job

A person‑centred, strength‑based approach will be required so that activities are tailored to each person’s needs and promote wellbeing. The role involves independent work with people living with dementia, clear and sensitive communication with older people, and their carers and families.

Professional qualifications are not mandatory, but the candidate should bring experience of working with older people, including those with dementia, cognitive impairment, physical disability and challenging behaviours.

The role will contribute to a positive and creative environment for activities, and will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team and volunteers to provide guidance and support.

Qualifications and experience
  • Previous experience of working with individuals with dementia in a role that supports meaningful activity
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills

This position requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
