Overview

Personal assistant LS17 - 4 hours per week plus 2 in school holidays - Leeds - LS8

To support a 9-year-old boy with autism and fragile X. He is full of vitality and the person supporting him will need to be very fit. Personal care will be involved in the role. Training will be offered by the council and 5.6 weeks annual leave pro-rata is offered.

• Support the child during daily activities, including water play, sand play, park visits, swinging, and football, ensuring safety and engagement.
• Provide personal care as required in a sensitive, respectful manner.
• Maintain a vigilant, watchful approach as the child can be very fast; supervise activities to ensure safety.
• Support communication using PECs as used at school and reinforce learning and interaction at home.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and complete required checks and documentation prior to employment.

• Ability to be physically fit to support a lively child and assist with personal care.
• Willingness to undergo training offered by the council.
• DBS check completed prior to starting, two references, and right to work check.
• Desirable: experience with autism and fragile X, understanding of non-verbal communication and PECs.

5.6 weeks annual leave pro-rata is offered; training will be provided by the council.
