Local Care Direct is a non ‑ profit Social Enterprise working collaboratively with stakeholders delivering high-quality patient care 7 days per week, 365 days a year .

We are currently recruiting Part‑Time / Full-Time Receptionists to work within one of our Minor Illness Services delivered in Leeds General Infirmary. As a receptionist you will play a key role in supporting patients, colleagues and stakeholders to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the department.

What the Role Offers

This is a varied and people‑focused role where you will be at the heart of the patient experience. As the first point of contact for patients, you will help create a welcoming, calm and professional environment while working closely with clinicians and operational colleagues as part of a wider team.

You will be entrusted with significant responsibility, ensuring reception and waiting areas run smoothly and supporting the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate patient care.

Pay Rates

Rates vary depending on the time of day worked:

    Hours:

    £13.21 per hour
    Monday to Friday, 08.00 – 18.00
  • Out of

    Hours:

    £14.21 per hour
    Monday to Friday, 18.00 – 08.00 and all day Saturday and Sunday

Main Duties and Responsibilities

As a Receptionist, you will be responsible for the smooth day‑to‑day running of the reception and waiting areas
, ensuring patients are supported from the moment they arrive.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Welcoming patients and dealing with them in a professional, efficient and sensitive manner
    , enhancing their overall experience of the centre
  • Booking patients onto Systm One
  • Liaising closely with other members of the Local Care Direct team and Hospital teams, including clinicians, health professionals and operational staff
  • Ensuring reception and waiting areas are safe, organised and welcoming
  • Communicating effectively with external stakeholders where required
  • Supporting clinical and operational processes to enable the delivery of high‑quality patient care

Your role is central to creating a positive patient journey and supporting the effective running of the service.

You will have:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to remain calm, professional and compassionate in a busy environment
  • Good organisational and administrative skills

  • A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and treating patients with dignity and respect

Previous experience in a healthcare or customer‑facing role is desirable, but not essential.
