As aSpecialist Cardiac Physiologist  at our Leeds Hospital,you’llhold a BSc in Clinical Physiology (or equivalent),hold a registration to RCCP/AHCS; demonstrateBHRS/IBHREDevices

Accreditation,andhave atleast two years’ experience at highly specialist level postcompletion of devices accreditation.

The post holder will perform a comprehensive range of cardiac diagnostic tests and procedures. They willbe responsible for interpreting results,delivering precise, clinically relevant reports to support medical decision-making whilst supporting other healthcare professionalswhilstfostering clinical excellence across the team.

• Perform a broad range of procedures in the cardiac cath lab as part of the multidisciplinary team(MDT) including:diagnostic coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention, right heart catheterisation, and PFO/ASD closures. Monitoring ECG and pressure tracings throughout, promptly reporting any abnormalities/significant changes to the wider team.

• Support cardiac device implantsmonitoringECG and intra-cardiac signals to ensureaccuratelead placement,promptly reporting any abnormalities/significant changes.

• Lead cardiac device follow-up clinicsin line with BHRS guidelines, clinical governance standards, and local standard operating procedure.
  
  Assess device function, battery status,makeclinicallyappropriate programming changes optimising device performance and battery longevityandmaintainaccuraterecords to support audit, service improvement, and governance.

• Ensure that appropriate Cardiac Device stock is available for implantation procedures.

• Deliver high-quality testing,interpreting,analysis and reporting where appropriate ofall non-invasive cardiology tests including:
  
  ECG’s,Ambulatory ECG’s,Ambulatory BP’s,Exercise Tolerance Testswith all non-invasive testing being performed and reported in accordancetonational guidelines and local standard operating procedures.

• Timely and accurate
  
  Ambulatory ECG analysis and reporting accounts fora significant proportion of daily workload.

• Provide expert clinical leadership and specialist technical guidance in the implantation and follow-up of cardiac devices, serving the department and wider hospital.

• Act as a clinical role model, promoting evidence-based best practice to enhance care quality for outpatients, inpatients, and surgical patients.

• Demonstrate advanced communication skills to support patients and families andfoster effective multidisciplinary collaboration.

• Maintain and advance clinical standards in CRM through ongoing training,and CPD.

• Maintaining clear communication with the Clinical HOD andmonitoringdaily service delivery,recommendingimprovementsand addressing clinical concerns promptly.

• Oversee stock control procedures, including standing orders, maintenance contracts, and capital equipment procurement, ensuring value and service quality.

• Contribute to the review and development of departmental and hospital-wide policies.

• Lead clinical auditsidentifyingtrends and implementing service improvements;participate in wider Nuffield audit programmes.

• Provide training, mentorship, and competency assessments for junior staff and other healthcare professionals.

• Uphold departmental quality systems, including medical device management and maintenance, and respond effectively to cardiology-specific MDAs/MHRAs.

• Contribute to the delivery of departmental workloads and deputise for theHODduring periods of absence.
