Job PurposeThe Clinical Quality and Compliance Manager is responsible for driving excellence in clinical care, regulatory compliance and quality assurance across a portfolio of care homes. The role provides expert guidance, oversight, and support to operational teams to ensure that care delivered meets regulatory requirements and company standards.
The post holder will lead quality improvement initiatives, monitor performance, support inspections, investigate concerns, and work collaboratively with operational and clinical teams to promote continuous improvement.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Quality Assurance
- Monitor and evaluate clinical quality standards across a portfolio of care homes.
- Conduct clinical audits, quality assurance visits, and compliance reviews.
- Assess care delivery against evidence-based practice, organisational policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Support homes in achieving and maintaining high-quality, person-centred care.
- Review clinical indicators and identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide advice and support to Operational Colleagues
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with CQC/CIW regulations and relevant legislation.
- Support homes in preparation for Local Authority and regulatory visits.
- Review regulatory action plans and monitor progress against identified improvements.
- Maintain awareness of changes in legislation, guidance, and best practice.
- Support the implementation of regulatory updates across the organisation.
- Monitor and review all notifications submitted as part of a duty system.
Quality Improvement
- Lead and facilitate quality improvement programmes across services.
- Develop and monitor quality improvement plans.
- Analyse quality data and produce reports that inform decision-making.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Share best practice across care homes and support the implementation of successful initiatives.
- Lead improvement projects aimed at enhancing resident outcomes and experience.
Incident, Complaint and Risk Management
- Review incidents, accidents, safeguarding concerns, complaints, and serious events.
- Support investigations and lessons learned reviews.
- Ensure effective action plans are developed and implemented.
- Identify organisational risks and elevate concerns appropriately.
Operational Support
- Provide induction, coaching and mentoring to Home Managers, Deputy Managers, and Clinical Leads.
- Support underperforming services to achieve sustained improvement.
- Work collaboratively with operational teams to deliver quality objectives.
- Participate in service reviews and governance meetings.
Clinical Governance
- Support and strengthen clinical governance frameworks across the organisation.
- Contribute to governance reports and quality dashboards.
- Monitor key performance indicators and analyse dashboard data.
- Facilitate governance meetings and ensure actions are followed through to completion.
- Assist in writing and reviewing policies and procedures.
Training and Development
- Identify areas where additional learning and development is required.
- Deliver or support training related to quality, governance, compliance, and clinical best practice.
- Deliver presentations Coach managers and clinical staff to improve capability and competence.
- Promote evidence-based practice and professional development.
Essential Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (Adult) with active NMC registration.
- Significant experience within the care home, health or social care sector.
- Experience of clinical governance and quality assurance with a strong knowledge of CQC/CIW regulations and inspection frameworks.
- Experience conducting audits and compliance reviews,
- Experience analysing clinical and operational data.
- Experience managing risk, incidents, complaints and safeguarding investigations.
- Proven ability to influence and support home improvements.
