We have an exciting substantive, full time opportunity for a Band 6 Specialist Physiotherapist in the Community Rehabilitation Team based from Holsworthy, in North Devon.

The Rehabilitation Team, consisting of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Assistant Practitioners and Clinical Support Workers, provide a therapy rehabilitation service to the community of the Bideford and district locality as part of an integrated, dynamic, award winning Health and Social Care Team.

This post will be based from Bideford Hospital and the successful applicant will be responsible for undertaking all aspects of clinical duties in a variety of community settings, to provide care for both acute and chronic patients. The case load will be extremely variable, including neurological, respiratory, orthopaedic, falls work and urgent care work. Additionally, there will be a supervisory role for other staff grades, the opportunity to be involved with student education and the opportunity to help shape how the service is developed to gain the best for the patients.

Ability to travel to meet the requirements of the role is essential. Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust ensures all staff are supported with personal development through supervision and appraisal.

  • Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, treatment and advice to patients and their carers. The caseload will include a wide range of acute and chronic care cases, many having complex disabilities and needs. Some services will also include terminal care cases.
  • Be part of:
    • A multidisciplinary team working in a community setting including rapid response All ensuring that therapy input is integrated into the patients’ overall care plan.
    • Work as an autonomous practitioner working without direct supervision and at times lone working.
    • Provide supervision, training and support to junior staff and students.
    • Work with managers to develop the service in line with patient need and Trust wide developments, and to help provide an equitable service across the Trust.
    • Some services are currently required to participate in on call and weekend working.
    • The candidate need to hold full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for this role
