Do you want to be part of a dynamic, passionate and nationally recognised Mental Health Support Team? We are seeking candidates who are motivated in ensuring a high-quality early intervention work is provided for children, young people and families across Leeds This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Mind Mate Support Team (MMST) who aspire to improve mental health and wellbeing across the city.

We are looking to recruit a number of Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioners (TEMHPs). This has been driven from the Green Paper (2017) to transform Young Peoples Mental Health by focussing on early intervention. Candidates will be offered a place to train at the University of Sheffield, in delivering Low Intensity Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (LI- CBT) evidence-based early interventions, and Whole Setting Approach initiatives (WSA) within education settings.

Candidates will work within a clinical team to ensure mild to moderate mental health and emotion wellbeing support is provided. Candidates will also work closely with education settings in the form of assemblies, workshops, groups and staff training, supporting with their WSA' to Mental Health., Helping CYP within the settings who present with more severe problems to access more specialist services.

Candidates will support/facilitate staff in education settings to identify, and where appropriate, manage issues related to mental health & wellbeing.

This will involve working closely in education settings and playing a pivotal part of developing and delivering whole setting/school approach work.

  • Level 6 qualification.
  • Experience with children or young people.
  • Not previously attended EMHP training.
  • Passion for improving mental health outcomes.

Candidates will work within a clinical team to manage their own workload independently, with supervisor support within the clinical area. They will support the assessment of children & young people (CYP) and implementation of programmes of care ensuring that they practice within their sphere of competence & knowledge.

Candidates under supervision and with support, will develop knowledge & practice skills in delivering evidence-based intervention for CYP in education setting with mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
