As part of the You Matter Leeds Street service, the Wellbeing Link Worker will provide trauma-informed, therapeutic support to residents living within a residential hostel environment. The role is focused on helping people improve their wellbeing, develop independence, and reduce the risk of self-neglect.

Working from a strengths-based and psychologically informed approach, the post holder will build trusted relationships with residents, supporting them to develop healthy routines, improve self-care skills, maintain their living spaces, and achieve their personal goals.

The role recognises that many residents have experienced significant trauma and adversity. Staff will work empathetically and therapeutically to empower residents, and increase resilience while maintaining high standards of safeguarding and support.

Therapeutic and Trauma-Informed Support

• Develop positive, trusting and professional relationships with residents.
• Deliver support using trauma-informed, person-centred and strengths-based approaches.
• Recognise the impact of trauma on behaviour and engagement and adapt support accordingly.
• Work therapeutically with residents to identify barriers to wellbeing and independence.
• Support residents to develop confidence, resilience and self-worth.
• Promote choice, control and autonomy while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.

Wellbeing and Self-Care

• Support residents to improve their physical, emotional and mental wellbeing.
• Encourage the development of positive daily routines and healthy lifestyle choices.
• Assist residents to access healthcare services, attend appointments and engage with treatment where appropriate.
• Promote personal hygiene, nutrition, exercise and healthy living.
• Deliver one-to-one wellbeing interventions and facilitate group activities that enhance engagement and resilience.

Preventing Self-Neglect

• Identify early indicators of self-neglect and intervene proactively.
• Work alongside residents to develop practical strategies that promote self-care and independence.
• Support individuals to maintain personal hygiene, manage their health and safely sustain their accommodation.
• Complete regular wellbeing and support reviews to monitor progress and identify emerging concerns.

Residential Support and Housekeeping

• Support residents to maintain clean, safe and habitable living environments.
• Undertake and support room inspections and room cleans alongside residents.
• Encourage residents to take ownership of their living spaces and develop household management skills.
• Work with residents to establish routines around cleaning, laundry and personal organisation.
• Promote pride in accommodation and independent living skills.

Resident Engagement and Activities

• Encourage participation in meaningful activities and community engagement.
• Facilitate wellbeing workshops, life-skills sessions and therapeutic group activities.
• Support residents in identifying aspirations and achieving agreed goals.
• Celebrate achievements and positive progression.

Safeguarding and Risk Management

• Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns.
• Undertake risk assessments and support planning in line with organisational procedures.
• Maintain accurate, timely and professional records.
• Participate in multi-agency meetings and contribute to risk management processes.
• Ensure all support is delivered in line with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
