Are you a newly qualified Speech and Language Therapist ready to begin your career, or an early-career clinician looking to broaden your adult experience?

We have exciting permanent and fixed-term opportunities to join our Adult Speech and Language Therapy rotational programme at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. These posts offer an exceptional foundation in adult practice, with rotations across Complex Rehabilitation and Stroke Rehabilitation at Chapel Allerton Hospital, Acute Stroke at Leeds General Infirmary, and Acute Inpatient services across Leeds General Infirmary and St James's University Hospital.

You will support adults with communication and swallowing difficulties following stroke, neurological conditions and complex medical presentations. Working alongside experienced Speech and Language Therapists and established multidisciplinary teams, you will develop a broad and transferable clinical skillset while helping patients maximise their communication and swallowing abilities, support recovery and achieve outcomes that are meaningful to them.

Our rotational programme is designed to help you grow into a confident autonomous practitioner. You will receive structured supervision, peer support, in-service learning and access to experienced senior and specialist clinicians. There are opportunities to develop communication and dysphagia competencies, contribute to audit and service improvement, and build a strong foundation for future progression.

We are recruiting to 1.8 WTE permanent posts and a 1.0 WTE fixed-term opportunity until 31 May 2027. Please indicate within your application whether you wish to be considered for the permanent posts, the fixed-term post, or both.

Our Adult Speech and Language Therapy service is a friendly, supportive and forward-thinking team working across some of Leeds's major acute and rehabilitation services. The rotation gives you experience across pathways, from acute assessment and early intervention through to specialist stroke and complex rehabilitation. Each placement offers a different clinical perspective and the opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues in Speech and Language Therapy.

We are committed to developing our Band 5 workforce. You will have regular supervision, peer support, reflective practice, continuing professional development and opportunities for joint working and skill sharing. You will be encouraged to ask questions, develop clinical reasoning and gradually take greater responsibility with support matched to your experience and competencies. Joining the rotation means becoming part of a wider Adult SLT service with strong professional leadership and opportunities to contribute to teaching, outcome measurement, quality improvement and service development.

We are looking for enthusiastic clinicians who can demonstrate:

• A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy with HCPC registration
• A genuine interest in working with adults with communication and swallowing difficulties.
• Varied clinical-placement or relevant experience involving communication and swallowing caseloads.
• A good theoretical and working knowledge of dysphagia, with enthusiasm for further competency development.
• A professional, compassionate and positive approach to patient care.
• Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• The ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and contribute to coordinated care.
• Strong organisation, time-management and caseload-prioritisation skills, with willingness to seek guidance appropriately.
