An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Advanced Podiatrist to join Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust as a Band 7 Podiatrist for 7.5 hours per week on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This post will support the Leeds Neighbourhood Diabetes Pilot, an innovative programme designed to improve access to specialist diabetes care, reduce health inequalities and provide earlier intervention for people living with diabetes. Working within the Tier 2 Neighbourhood Support Team, you will provide specialist podiatric assessment and management for adults with diabetes and multimorbidity across the Beeston, Middleton & Hunslet PCN footprint.

You will work autonomously, managing a complex caseload and delivering advanced diabetic foot care, including foot risk stratification, neurovascular assessment, wound management, offloading interventions, biomechanical assessment and escalation of patients through established diabetic foot pathways when required. You will work closely with multidisciplinary colleagues across primary, community and specialist services to improve patient outcomes and reduce avoidable complications and hospital admissions.

Alongside clinical responsibilities, you will contribute to MDT working, provide advice and guidance to colleagues, support service development and quality improvement, and contribute to education, supervision and audit activity.

The Leeds Community Healthcare Podiatry Service is a research-active service providing specialist interventions including high-risk foot care, diabetic foot protection, wound management, nail surgery, foot and ankle pain management, and biomechanics.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has advanced specialist knowledge of diabetes, high-risk foot care and wound management.
  • Is confident managing complex caseloads and working autonomously.
  • Has experience of mentoring, supervision or supporting colleagues.
  • Is committed to service improvement and evidence-based practice.

The role requires travel across Leeds and the transportation of clinical equipment. Reasonable adjustments will be considered in line with the Equality Act 2010.
