Orka Financial is recruiting for a Payroll Supervisor join their clients finance team based in Reading. The role is responsible for managing the end-to-end UK payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payroll delivery while remaining fully compliant with UK legislation. This is a hands-on role, combining day-to-day payroll processing with supervision of a small payroll team.

• Oversee and actively process end-to-end UK payroll, including:
• Starters, leavers, and changes
• Overtime, allowances, bonuses, and deductions
• Ensure full compliance with UK payroll legislation, including PAYE, NI, pensions (auto-enrolment), and statutory payments
• Supervise, support, and coach a small payroll team, ensuring workloads are managed effectively
• Review and approve payroll outputs, reconciliations, and variance checks
• Act as the main escalation point for complex payroll queries from employees and stakeholders
• Pension files and statutory reports
• Year-end processes including P60s and P11

• Maintain payroll controls, documentation, and procedures
• Liaise with HMRC, pension providers, and third-party payroll vendors as required
• Support payroll audits and internal reviews

• Proven experience supervising or senior-level experience in UK payroll
• Strong hands-on experience with full end-to-end payroll processing
• In-depth knowledge of UK payroll legislation (PAYE, NI, pensions, statutory payments)
• Experience managing or mentoring a small payroll team

• Payroll qualification (CIPP or equivalent)
• Experience with payroll systems and HRIS platforms
• Salary up to £40,000 depending on experience.
