HR Generalist

Salary: £37,000 - £44,000/annum (dependant on experience)

Contract:

Permanent

Hours:

Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week (between 8.30am and 5pm)

Pattern:
Hybrid - 4 days per week on site, 1 day remote.

Location:

Bardon DC LE67 1FA

Travel:
Requirement to travel to retail stores and other VF offices approx. once per month. Travel and overnight stays may be necessary during specific projects.

The Role

The HR Generalist supports our UK Distribution Centre & UK Retail Stores in executing HR process & policies. You’ll act as a primary HR contact to employees and leaders, giving advice on HR themes and executing action plans following legislation, procedures and VF strategy.

How You Will Make a Difference
  • Support the Retail and Distribution Centre in implementing initiatives in line with People Strategy by fostering an inclusive culture and empowering our leaders to make informed decisions regarding their teams.
  • Ensure optimal support & guidance around sickness/absence reporting, performance management tools and processes.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in Employment Relations by giving solid advice and coaching line managers through complex cases and acting as a key HR partner with management teams to highlight key patterns, areas of concern and improvement.
  • Support redundancy processes, restructures, small‑scale TUPE, variation of contracts, settlement agreements – experience in leading these is essential.
  • Lead and deliver in‑house training & people surgeries as well as coordinate external training.
  • Provide ad‑hoc project support such as apprenticeships, culture surveys, compensation cycles and total rewards.
  • Work in partnership with HRBP and site leaders to execute data‑driven insights around employee wellbeing.
  • Collaborate closely with HR Operations Team to support the company’s HR Operating Model.
  • Interpret & analyse data to generate ideas – people KPI’s.
  • Present People Updates during quarterly town halls.
Skills for Success
  • Education:

    CIPD Level 5 Qualified is desired but not essential.
  • Previous experience in an HR advisory or generalist capacity is essential, with strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Sector experience in Retail/Supply Chain is an advantage but not essential if strong HR knowledge can be demonstrated.
  • Fast learner, comfortable with AI, MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and Workday – strong advantage.
  • Strong communication and Employee Relations skills. Able to deal with a high level of stakeholders in compliance with UK employment law and understand business operations.
  • Comfortable presenting to all levels of the business via Zoom/Teams and in person.
  • Able to work independently, proactive, creative and autonomous.
  • Travel to Northern UK & Scotland is required from time to time. Travel to stores approx. 1 day per month; overnight stays may be required for distant locations.
  • Flexible working: hybrid model. Expectation is 4 days per week in office; flexible start/finish times can be considered with sufficient coverage.
