Our Cloud Platform team is a well‑established, solution‑focused engineering community at the heart of one of the largest digital transformations in UK financial services.
We’re modernising the bank’s next‑generation cloud platform and partnering with product teams to enable secure, scalable cloud solutions across:
- Analytics
- GenAI / Machine Learning
- Databases
- Storage
- Serverless HPC
- Application workloads
We focus on product curation, data‑platform capabilities, automation, quality assurance, and embedding AI into cloud engineering workflows to improve both developer experience and operational outcomes.
About the RoleWe’re building a cloud platform that is quick, secure and resilient for customers - and modern, easy and environmentally conscious for developers. This role focuses on delivering end‑to‑end Azure infrastructure solutions for internal engineering teams.
Core technical focus areas- Azure: AKS, Azure Policy, Batch, Key Vault, SQL, Storage Accounts, API Management
- Engineering fundamentals: Networking, Security, IAM, Platform Engineering
- Tooling: Terraform, CI/CD (Harness / Git Hub Actions), Power Shell, Azure CLI
- Developer experience: Git workflows, Backstage, reusable patterns
- Observability: Dynatrace
This is a hands‑on engineering role where you’ll design, build and maintain secure and scalable Azure foundations, drive automation across deployment and operations, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. Participation in an out‑of‑hours support rota is required.

You partner closely with Product Owners, Engineering Leads, Security and Architecture teams. You value automation, standardisation and repeatability, and you act as a role model and mentor for early‑career engineers.
Key Responsibilities- Design, build and maintain secure, scalable Azure infrastructure foundations
- Build and maintain reusable Terraform modules and automated deployment patterns
- Develop CI/CD pipelines using Harness CI and Power Shell to automate delivery
- Translate security and control requirements into policy‑as‑code guardrails using Azure Policy
- Create and enhance "Golden Paths" using Backstage templates, scaffolding, documentation, automation and service catalogue improvements
- Collaborate closely with security, risk, architecture and delivery teams to meet regulatory requirements without slowing innovation
- Drive operational excellence across monitoring, incidents, problem management, cost optimisation and reliability; participate in out‑of‑hours support
- Prototype and implement GenAI and agentic‑AI automation (e.g., AI‑assisted deployments, documentation automation, policy reasoning) using tools like Copilot Studio
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement
- Experience in Platform Engineering with a consistent track record building and operating Azure solutions
- Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines (Git Hub Actions, Harness, or similar)
- Experience with configuration‑management tooling for automation and policy enforcement
- Proficiency in one or more scripting/programming languages (Python, Go, Power Shell, Bash)
- Strong ownership approach with the ability to lead delivery of features or platform components
- Skilled in Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC) using Terraform
- Experience leading cloud‑service product life cycles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment and adapting to change
